Welcome to the Diploma in Teaching Reformer, a comprehensive 4-day professional training designed for experienced movement professionals seeking to teach Reformer Pilates safely, effectively, and confidently. This course is suitable for Pilates teachers, personal trainers, yoga instructors, and other qualified movement specialists and is classified as a continuing professional development program.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the structure, mechanics, and safe use of the Reformer.
  • Teach beginner to intermediate-level Reformer Pilates exercises with clear cueing.
  • Modify exercises for special populations and individual needs.
  • Plan and deliver effective Reformer Pilates sessions and class programs.
  • Assess client progress and apply appropriate progressions or regressions.

Reformer Repertoire – Sample Exercises

Footwork Series
Feet in various positions on the footbar. Focus on alignment, breath, and core engagement.

The Hundred
Lying supine, straps in hands. Coordination of breath, core engagement, and limb control.

Leg Straps
Supine leg circles, frogs, and variations. Focus on pelvic stability.

Short Box Series
Seated work for spine mobility and core activation. Includes round back, flat back, and twist.

Teaching Skills and Assessment

Effective Reformer teaching requires confident cueing, precise demonstration, and sensitivity to client needs. During this course, you will be assessed on your teaching ability, knowledge, and ability to modify for different populations.

Assessment Overview

  • Practical Teaching Assessment (50%) – Deliver a 20-minute sequence.
  • Written Theory Quiz (50%) – Multiple choice

Please note attendance at an assessment day will take place 4 weeks after course completion is mandatory.
